Mahdy Mehraeen is a Bamyani reporter and photographer who likely has the best photos taken from this ancient city. In other words, he is photographer of Bamyan. Mehraeen was born in 1977 in Waras District. Later when he grew up, he had to experience the difficulties of migration and displacement.
He had started photography since many years ago by using an old Russian camera given by one of his friends. But photography was more expensive than what Mahdy was struggling to continue. He coped with poverty for many years. Once digital cameras were accessible and photography cost reduced, he again started photography. Mahdy together with Osthad Nizamuddin Rafat established a photography class which soon its operation came to an end. And Mahdy could count on this as an experience. He took photos for many years with an ordinary digital camera, but this could not quench his thurst. In 2008 he bought his ideal camera and took so many photos. Later, he gained membership of 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center and started his new photography career professionally and technically under supervision of Osthad Najibullah Musafer and Reza Yamak.
Mehraeen is a reporter as well, and prepares photo and report for different news agencies. Recently, he activated the first Afghan mobile radio. Now, he is its manager. Additionally, he teaches journalistic courses at Bamyan University. Mehraeen’s photos have been exhibited several times. He had an exclusive exhibition of photos from Ghazni province which was exhibited Ghazni, Kabul and many cities in USA.
