Basir Seerat

A photojournalist with a long personal history of using his chosen crier to fight for hope and peace & human rights from the culture angle in his country.

In 1998, he lived for some time as a refugee. Mr. Seerat graduated from Kabul University in 2005 with a Fine Arts degree from the Department of Theater and Cinema.In 2005, he was kidnapped by the Taliban in the Nuristan province while making a documentary film about the lives of women in that region. Mr. Seerat escaped from the Taliban jail after 10 days. He has worked with many filmmakers, especially Samira Makhmal Baf, a noted Iranian director. Read more below:

Attended school & University:

• 1997 - 1999 Faizeya high school in Ghazni.
• Graduate from fine arts faculty Department of Directing Cinema & Theater “Kabul University”.

 Attended Journalism Courses:

• 2009 – 2011 Documentary workshop with Atelier Varan Paris & Kabul.
• 2007 online Photography with the Pointer News University.
• 2006 Online Journalism with Zig Zag Academy which is part of BBC world service.
• 2004 Photo Journalism in AINA media and culture center Kabul,.
• 2004 Directing short documentary & fiction in Kabul University (fine arts faculty).
• 2003 directing fiction film at Kabul Film.
• 1999 – 2000 English language in New Youth organization at Quetta Pakistan, with certificate of merit Advanced level.

 PHOTOGRAPHY  

2007- Up to now Editor in Chief of 3^rd Eye Photojournalism Center Kabul.

2006- worked as fashion Photographer with Afghan wireless Company.

2008 - 6th month worked as a photojournalist in UNAMA “OCPI” office, Kabul.

2008 - Implemented a project of documentary photos of Kabul for Austrian photographer.

2004 - Translator of Austrian photographers in Kabul University.

2005 - Implemented a huge project of photo exhibition for afghan Independent Human Rights Commission in Estiqlal High School.

FILMOGRAPHY:

2011 directed a short documentary by the Name of Petit Afghanistan for a French production, & ARTE TV.

2011 directed short future film by the name of Up to Alphabet.

2011 directed a short future film by the name of Caricaturist.

2010 directed a short future film by the name Gipsy alphabet.

2008 - Assistant of Scene with Smera Makhmal Baff a famous Iranian Director.

2005 - Directed a short film by the name of (Voice of flown city) for civil society foundation & UN Habitat.

2004 - Directed a theater play in 3^rd national theater festival in Kabul,

2004 - Cameraman of a short documentary film by the name of A Day of One Student, Directed by Shikeb Mosawi.

2004 - Cameraman of a documentary film by the name of Noristani Women Parliamentary candidates directed by Taqi Seraj that we were kidnapped by Taliban in Noristan province.

2003 - Assistant of edit for a short film by the name of Qaleen Boffan Kuchak.

EXIHIBATIONS:

2007 the first photography exhibition by the name of 3rd Eye in French

Cultural Center which was the start of working together in Opening

Ceremony of 3rd Eye In Afghanistan.
